- Ines Mar (4 weeks ago):
We stayed at the Courtyard Pasadena for three nights as a family with children ranging from 6 to 19 years old. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, thanks to several aspects that truly stood out. The breakfast service was exceptional. Although it is à la carte rather than a buffet, there were more than enough choices, the portions were generous, and every dish was delicious. What made the experience even better was the staff. From the chef to the team working behind the counter and the servers, everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. They made every breakfast a pleasure. The outdoor pool area is another highlight. It is not very large, but it is beautifully maintained, surrounded by palm trees, and has a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. The water temperature was perfect, and in the evening the fire pit with seating around it creates a lovely space to relax after a busy day. Unfortunately, one issue seriously damaged what would otherwise have been an excellent stay. The sofa bed was completely unacceptable. Two of our children, aged 6 and 18, had to sleep on it. The mattress was so incredibly thin that you could clearly feel the metal springs simply by placing your hand on it. Sleeping on it felt like lying directly on the springs. It was, quite honestly, a torture bed. What disappointed us even more was the hotel's complete lack of response. We immediately informed the staff and requested either a replacement mattress or, at the very least, a mattress topper or extra padding. Despite our repeated requests, absolutely nothing was done. Our children were forced to spend all three nights sleeping on an unbearable mattress, and no one took responsibility or offered any solution. For a hotel of this category, this is simply unacceptable. A comfortable bed is one of the most basic expectations of any hotel stay. Ignoring a problem like this, especially when children are involved, reflects very poorly on the housekeeping service and significantly overshadowed an otherwise wonderful experience. Finally, I would like to mention the location. Pasadena itself is a beautiful area, and the hotel's location within Pasadena is excellent. However, if your main purpose is to visit Los Angeles and its main attractions, I would not recommend staying here. We spent hours in the car every day because of the long distances and the heavy traffic. In hindsight, choosing a more centrally located hotel would have saved us a great deal of time and made our trip much more enjoyable.

I like the Courtyard in Pasadena better than the Hotel Dena, but it's not as nice as the Residence Inn across the street. ||Courtyard Pros: I spoke to a few different people at the front desk and they were all great except for one. My room was a nice size and had a couch, ottoman, and coffee table. They have a helpful area for cars to easily pull in to drop you off or pick you up. Like the name implies, they have a nice courtyard with a pool, hot tub, and lounge seating.||The best thing about this hotel is its location. It's easy to walk to everything in Old Town Pasadena and it's close to the highway if you want to visit somewhere else. ||Cons: You can easily hear people talking in the hallways and adjacent rooms. There seems to be no soundproofing. While there is a closet, there aren't any drawers to put anything away. The layout of the bathroom is odd. There's lots of space around the toilet, but the sink area is too small. There's too little counter space and no magnifying mirror. There is a walk-in shower, but no tub.

Positive: Location and safety in the Parking Negative: I wish they had put a softer light at night by the toilet part as every time I opened that door the full light came in bothering me and my husband trying to sleep

We stayed here during our vacation to LA. The lobby is really nice and new. True to its name, it also has a little courtyard with a pool where we spent one morning out there having breakfast. It was so relaxing and nice. The hotel is in a good location in Pasadena and we felt very comfortable and safe walking to nearby cafes and restaurants. Our room was a bit far from the parking lot though, we literally had to walk down like 4-5 hallways to get to our room from the parking lot. The position of the elevators were a bit odd too, they were on the sides of the building instead of right in the middle so sometimes I would get confused going to the elevator from my room. Anyway upon checking out there was an issue but we were reallly impressed with how they handled the situation. Their attitude and service was great. They really care about their customers and we felt valued!

Breakfast here is amazing, note NOT free! Coffee ☕️ here is Starbucks, bar and restaurant on-site! I love that they have happy hr here every day except 4 Sat. Drinks & appetizers all for $7. Thank you Robert, Lexi, and the lady that has a Greek name.. For taking such a good care of us! Location is perfect! We loved the whirlpool jacuzzi and the amazing outdoor fireplace. We will be back.

This was terrible! We are Marriot OWNERS & expect Marriot standards! Well not so much! First of all not enough towels & linens in the room. We had to request what should have been in the room. Breakfast showed included when I booked this for my family. Night Manager Jason was nice at check in & said just explain it, and they will honor it. At check out they charged for Breakfast. Josh refused to honor the included breakfast at check out! The location was good. The negatives were we had to pay for parking & breakfast. When I booked I this I specifically checked pools, breakfast & parking included. BEWARE when booking this place, it is NOT RUN the JW MARRIOT WAY!!!!

My recent stay revealed a noticeable contrast in service standards within the same organization. Due to the presence of multiple properties under the same brand across Los Angeles, I mistakenly arrived at the wrong hotel. Jennie at the front desk handled the situation with exceptional professionalism. She demonstrated initiative, took full ownership, and efficiently coordinated with the other property to cancel and rebook my reservation. Her composure and decisiveness immediately established trust and turned a potentially stressful situation into a seamless experience. However, a subsequent interaction the following day was unexpectedly underwhelming. When I sought assistance to reconfirm cancellation details for Agoda, I was attended by Abigel, who introduced herself as the Operations Director. The response provided was limited to a contact number and policy explanation, with little effort to facilitate or follow through on the request. What stood out most was not the inability to resolve the matter directly, but the absence of service ownership and guest-centric thinking at a leadership level. There is clearly strong potential within the front-line team, as demonstrated by Jennie. Aligning management’s approach with this standard would significantly elevate the overall guest experience and reinforce confidence in the brand. My room no was 503.

We just finished our first night of three and I needed to run to the reviews to rave about the service- specifically Janine. When we got there she was so warm and welcoming. She made us feel truly special like we were the only guests. When walking to the elevator, I heard a couple speak to her about how she was still showing people around. It was then I realized cultivated a culture of everyone feeling this way. She is the one who is truly special. If Marriott was ever on undercover boss- she would be one of the staff selected for something great at the end. Thank you all!
